Mid-Century Danish Plastic ‘pagoda’ Ceiling Lamp by Flemming Brylle & Preben Jacobsen, 1970s Denmark

This large pendant lamp was designed by Flemming Brylle and Preben Jacobsen. This is a rare version of smoked acrylic. The lightness of the design lies, particularly in the materiality and transparency. The basic structure of the lamp is made of transparent acrylic ribs, five of which are fixed in a star shape. The diffusers or reflectors are thin and flexible, opaque plastic strips which are inserted between ribs in the acrylic and so impart the characteristic shape and lighting effect of the light.
