Designed in 1972 by Italian duo Werther Toffoloni and Piero Palange for Germa, the ‘Hoop’ armchair showcases a striking geometric frame that enhances its sculptural presence. The structure is composed of bent, cylindrical lacquered wooden elements, while the seat and backrest are upholstered in off-white canvas, secured through lacing beneath the seat. A distinctive feature of this design is its high, egg-shaped backrest, which offers ample support for a comfortable seating experience. The extended armrests further contribute to the chair’s unique aesthetic. Characterized by simplicity, clarity, and a lack of ornamentation, this piece exemplifies architectural minimalism.
